TNC is seeking two seasonal field technicians to inventory road-stream crossings (culverts and bridges). Road-stream crossings can cause flooding and have negative impacts on aquatic systems and species. The Stream Barrier Technician conducts road-stream crossing inventories and database management for priority sites in the Adirondacks of upstate NY.
Familiarity with GPS navigation, Arc Collector and a basic understanding of watershed science or fisheries is ideal. This is a great position for a college undergraduate or recent graduate to gain more experience. We are looking for candidates that are independent, tech savvy and willing to collect repetitive data with resolute diligence. Frequent driving is required. Housing is not provided but we can assist the successful applicant with finding local housing in Essex County, NY. This position is based out of the Adirondack Office of The Nature Conservancy in Keene Valley, New York. The Adirondacks are a beautiful area to work, hike, fish, paddle, camp etc. Successful applicants will have access to ample outdoor recreation opportunities as well as opportunities to network with professionals and learn about a truly unique system of protected lands and waters.
